HONG KONG BUDGET AUCTIONEER MADISON ACHIEVED HKD18M SALES IN THEIR MAY AUCTION

Hong Kong’s home grown wine and spirits auctioneer Madison Auction realised a sale value of just above HKD 18 million (USD2.4 million) in their 2021 May live-streaming wine auction held last Saturday in Hong Kong.
The auction featured 194 lots of rare wines of exceptional provenance with total estimated value from between HKD14 million to HKD21 million.
The items including 29 lots of Bordeaux wines, 112 lots of Burgundy wines and 20 lots of reare and fine whiskies.
Three bottles of pristine 2004 Domaine d'Auvenay Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru were sold at HKD 220,550 in the auction, surpassing the high estimate.
Bottles of Domain Bizot also achieved excellent result of the auction, among them Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2006 (est HKD 5,000-HKD 7,000) was sold at HKD 10,413 per bottle. And 2013 Domaine Bizot Marsannay Clos du Roy (est HKD 3,500-HKD 5,000) was sold at HKD 7,350.
For some of the popular lots, the hammer prices were higher than those achieved by international auction houses.
These include a bottle of 1995 Domaine Leroy Richebourg and 2015 a bottle Chateau Angelus Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, according to Madison Auction, the hammer prices were both about 15 percent higher than that achieved by international auction houses in the same period this year.
“We sincerely appreciate the high-quality buyers for their participation and their great support for wines, which made Madison Auction so popular,” the auction house said in a press release.
Madison Auction is now accepting consignments for their upcoming auctions at 0 percent seller's commission.
