LIMITED EDITION OF CALIFORNIA MADE PENFOLDS 177 LAUNCHED IN CHINA

Australia's Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has released a limited edition of Penfolds 177, made from California Cabernet Sauvignon, exclusively for the Chinese market to mark the 177th anniversary of the brand's inception.
Launched earlier this week during the second China International Consumer Expo held in Haikou city of Hainan Province, the label will be solely distributed by Penfold's existing partner China's wine importer Vats Liquor.
President of Vats Liquor, Li Wei, said: "I am delighted to deepen relations with a world-renowned partner like Penfolds to bring a wide range of global quality wines to Chinese consumers. The two parties will work together to further promote the Penfolds brand in China through optimising channels and providing more diverse products to meet consumers' demands.”
The number of bottles to be released and the price per bottle are still to be announced.
This is not the first time TWE launched a label solely for China to mark Penfolds brand's anniversary, the company has launched a limited edition of Penfolds 175 to mark the brand's 175th anniversary two years ago.
The Penfolds 177 is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, which is Chinese consumer's favourite variety, from California with ABV of 14 percent.
The wine is said to have displayed bold California style with upfront ripe fruit and very full body.
The tasting notes said the wine has aromas of cherry, blackberry and black forest cake with spice notes of coriander seeds, subtle anise and hints of pleasant iron mineral notes.
On the palate, the wine is said to have flavours of dark chocolate, liquorice, sweet vanilla and hint of black olive savouriness supported by finely grained tannin.
