HK & CANADA'S LOUIS LATOUR RECALLS CAST DOUBT ON BOTTLE SAFETY AMID GLASS SHORTAGE

Hong Kong's food safety agency has recalled a batch of bottled Louis Latour Chablis due to the risk of glass breaking.
Acted on a notification from the European rapid food and feed alert system, the Hong Kong food safety centre appealed to the public to stop drinking the affected batche, and businesses in possession of the bottles should stop serving and selling them immediately.
the affected product is Chablis 2021 375ml bottles of the Loius Latour brand with batch number L2216879.
The Hong Kong importer of the product, Links Concept, is now recalling the bottles.
Earlier this month, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a batch of Louis Latour Pinot Noir because the product may possibly contain glass.
The recalled product is Pinot Noir Bourgogne 2021 of the Louis Latour brand with a UPC code of 3 566922 002975.
“Do not consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute recalled products,” the agency warned.
The CFIA said the recall was triggered by a recall in another country, but the agency did not name that country.
The agency also said the recalled product has been only sold in Ontario.
The news of Louis Latour’s product recalls in Hong Kong and Canada coincided with a problem of bottle shortages currently faced by wine producers in France.
The French wine sector said shortages of glass started to become apparent during Covid when furnaces stopped running at full capacity. And now the production is reduced due to the high costs of fuel to run the furnaces.
French wine producers used to pay about €0.35 for a glass bottle but now they have to pay more than €0.7.
