CHINA’S WINE EXPORTS TO SINGAPORE SURGED OVER 6,200% IN Q1 2026

China’s wine exports to Singapore recorded an explosive year-on-year jump of 6,223 percent in the first quarter of 2026, reaching RMB 29.4 million (USD4.07 million) and cementing Singapore’s position as the country’s second-largest wine export market, according to official trade data.

The extraordinary growth represents a major shift in China’s overseas wine footprint, driven largely by Singapore’s status as a tariff-free regional trading hub serving Southeast Asia.

Unlike traditional end-consumption markets, the city-state channels large volumes of premium Chinese wine for re-export to neighbouring ASEAN economies, fuelling the sharp quarterly expansion.

Shipments are dominated by high-end red wines from Ningxia and Xinjiang, China’s core premium wine-producing regions.

Bottles in the mid-to-premium price bracket have gained traction among Singapore’s fine-dining venues, specialty wine retailers and regional collectors, marking rising international recognition of Chinese wine quality.

Trade data further shows structural changes in China’s wine export landscape. While long-time top market Hong Kong posted a 9.3 percent year-on-year decline in imports during Q1, Singapore’s market share expanded rapidly, climbing from less than 1% in 2024 to 12% of China’s total wine exports this year.

Industry analysts attribute the breakout growth to Singapore’s transparent trade policies, efficient logistics and duty-free advantages, which make it an ideal springboard for Chinese wineries to penetrate ASEAN markets.

Market participants expect the upward trend to continue through 2026, as domestic producers ramp up brand promotion and cross-border distribution partnerships in Singapore to capture growing regional premium wine demand.
